October 26, 2015

From David Del Valle in Madrid

Netflix is negotiating with Orange Spain and Regional cable companies Euskaltel-R and Telecable to integrate its service into their pay TV platforms to extend its presence throughout the Spanish pay market.

Netflix already has a non-exclusive distribution agreement with Vodafone which is offering the service free of charge for six months to its subscribers.

With the new deals, Netflix aims to strengthen its position in the market in direct competition with Telefonica’s OTT service which currently has over a million subscribers.

Netflix has also reached an agreement with Sony to offer the streaming service through its game console PlayStation 4 on 4K. Other consoles like Wii U, Xbox 360 an Xbox One are already offering the service

Netflix is also available through Smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Electronics, Toshiba and Panasonic. Also available through phones and tablets with Android, iOS and Windows Phones.
