September 27, 2022
Avid has announced the availability of Avid VENUE 7.1 software, enabling full compatibility between Avid VENUE | S6L consoles and the latest version of Waves plugins (V14) via the Waves SoundGrid Rack, providing audio engineers with seamless integration and added workflow enhancements.
The compatibility of Avid VENUE 7.1 and Waves V14 plugins enables live sound engineers to focus on the audio facing forward, accessing all the parameters of a vast suite of creative tools at their fingertips. Enhanced detail precision of show programming is also provided for engineers with the ability to store all Waves parameters within the 1,000 snapshots available within Avid VENUE | S6L consoles. Included in the extensive offering are 128 voices, with each supporting a chain of up to 8 plugins available in Avid VENUE | S6L and the Waves SoundGrid.
The new Avid VENUE 7.1 software update provides access to Waves plugins directly from the Avid | VENUE S6L control surface without requiring an additional host computer. Audio is always perfectly time-aligned regardless of how complicated a show can become, thanks to ultra-low latency between Avid products, combined with powerful processing, and integration with the automatic delay compensation in VENUE software.
“Waves is delighted with the new compatibility of Waves V14 plugins with Avid VENUE | S6L consoles,” says Mick Olesh, Waves Managing Director, and EVP of Sales. “Consistent with Waves’ ongoing support for the live community, we are gratified to enable professional excellence and significantly enhance the workflow of front-of-house engineers using S6L consoles.”
Live acts harnessing the combined power of Avid VENUE | S6L and Waves V14 plugins include leading front-of-house engineers Sean “Sully” Sullivan (Rage Against the Machine), Andrew Newton (Harry Styles), Greg Price (Black Sabbath), Lance Reynolds (alt-J), and Bryan “Froggy” Cross (Doobie Brothers), as well as by the audio teams in large houses of worship, such as Christ Church of the Valley, directed by lead engineer Blair Drake.
“Avid is fully committed to expanding our partner ecosystem and the compatibility of our industry-standard audio solutions,” said Robb Allan, Senior Principal Product Manager, Live Sound at Avid. “The release of the VENUE 7.1 software update further expands Avid’s collaboration with Waves, providing Avid customers with the tools and solutions they need to power the biggest and best live shows today.”
