T-VIPS Video Gateway powers DTT expansion in French overseas Territories
November 2, 2010
T-VIPS, a global expert in professional video contribution and distribution solutions, today announces the delivery to French broadcaster TDF of TVG420 ASI to IP Gateway units for the expansion of the French digital terrestrial TV (DTT) distribution network. This latest order for the T-VIPS TVG420’s will expand the network to encompass La Reunion, Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana and Polynesia
Each TVG420 Gateway allows DVB-ASI (Asynchronous Serial Interface) MPEG-2 signals to be carried over the robust IP network used by TDF, to transport content originated in Paris to Single Frequency Network (SFN) broadcast towers and relays across France. The same solution is also used by TDF in the French Antilles, French Polynesia, French Guiana and La Reunion territories overseas.
“The TVG420 ASI to IP Gateway offers a highly flexible and reliable broadcast distribution solution,” says Johnny Dolvik, CEO T-VIPS. “High quality transmission is assured at all times through advanced Forward Error Correction (FEC) techniques and an innovative clock re-sync feature, which we believe is the best in the industry. Additionally, the low power consumption of the units and the availability of a DC power supply ensure that TDF can enjoy a low operational cost.”
Absolute dependability is essential for a project such as this, where units are not only geographically dispersed, but may be placed in very remote locations such as at a transmission tower on top of a mountain, concludes Dolvik.
