Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F debuts at Netflix #1

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, starring the legendary Eddie Murphy, debuted at #1 on Netflix’s English Films List in the week commencing July 1st with 41 million views, making it the most-watched title of the week. The movie sees Murphy return to his breakout role 30 years after the release of Beverly Hills Cop III. Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron brought heat of a different kind in the romantic comedy A Family Affair, which took the #2 spot with 31.9 million views. The Jessica Alba action-thriller Trigger Warning claimed #3 with 8 million views. 

Season 3 of Shonda Rhimes’ Bridgerton continued to steal hearts, dancing to fourth place on the English TV List with 4 million views. The show also moved up to eighth place on the Most Popular TV List (English), clocking a total of 95.8 million views in 53 days.

The sci-fi drama series Supacell rose to the top of the English TV List with 11.8 million views. Documentaries had a big week on the list. Making their debuts were The Man with 100 Kids in second place (6.6 million views), Season 2 of Worst Roommate Ever in third (5.4 million views), and Sprint ran into sixth place (2.4 million views) as fans prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Returning to the list were America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders in seventh (2.3 million views), and Season 1 of Worst Roommate Ever in tenth place (1.8 million views). Elsewhere on the list, reality ruled, with real estate series Owning Manhattan debuting in fifth place (2.6 million views) and Season 2 of competition series The Mole sneaking into ninth place (1.8 million views). 

Under Paris (France) took #1 on the Non-English Films List struck again, with 3.6 million views. The film also moved up to the #3 spot on the Most Popular Films List (Non-English). Quirky romance Goyo (Argentina) debuted at #2 with 3.2 million views. Returning to the list were the slow-burn drama, Maharaj (India) at #3 (3.2 million views), the bittersweet drama Drawing Closer (Japan) at #4 (2.4 million views), and the comedy Inheritance (Poland) at #6 (1.8 million views).

The gritty crime drama Gangs of Galicia (Spain) held onto the top spot on the Non-English TV List with 2.4 million views. New list entrants included political thriller The Whirlwind (Korea) in fourth place (1.8 million views), telenovela Desperate Lies (Brazil) in fifth (1.8 million views), gritty drama Òlòtūré: The Journey (Nigeria) in sixth (1.7 million views), and Season 3 of Rhythm and Flow: France in ninth (1.4 million views).
