The Canal+ Group has signed a new windowing agreement, thanking the Culture Minister and film body CNC for their help in bringing about the agreement.
The deal, which follows that signed on November 8th with the French film industry, allows Canal+ to strengthen its position in film, with the possibility of broadcasting films between six and eight months after their theatrical release.
The new windowing timetable recognises Canal’s unique position in the French movie financing cycle, where it is by far the main backer, with some €150 million invested each year by the Canal+ channel alone and almost €400 million from the Canal+ Group for French and European cinema.
With 400 films available exclusively on TV each year, Canal+ says it offers the best movie package, available at any time via the myCANAL App included in the subscription. According to Canal+, this rich and diversified offer includes almost all of the annual production of French films, ranging from popular hits to auteur films as well as blockbusters from major American studios (Disney, Warner, Fox).
