The sale of big-screen and 4K-ready TV sets are significantly increasing in Spain as this year’s World Cup tournament in Russia draws closer.
The sales of 65 inch+ TV sets have grown by 70 per cent this year and are forecast to reach a 150 per cent rise between May and June, reports El Pais, citing the main electronic manufacturers as sources.
Spaniards are also keen on 4K screens when buying a TV set. Around 65 per cent of the TV sets sold are now 4K, with Full HD and HD-ready TV devices sales dropping by half.
Manufacturers expect to sell 600,000 TV sets in the next two months (May and June) ending the financial year with 2.9 million sales and a financial value of €1.2 billion, up 5 per cent.
TV sets with 42 inch screens were the most popular, with an average price of €400. But now, Spaniards prefer TV sets with 65 inches or more, and equipped with UHD technology with a price between €1,500 and €5,000.
