France Televisions launches VoD
May 1, 2012
French public broadcaster France Televisions has launched a VoD service branded Pluzz VaD, and kicking off with a choice of 3,000 titles.
Pluzz VaD will first be distributed by the ISP Free, and will be extended to other service providers by the end of the year. It will eventually be part of the connected TV and mobile TV markets.
France Televisions Distribution’s CEO, Yann Chapellon, said that only pirate sites offer such a volume of French-language content at present. France Televisions VoD will soon add American films. It will share revenue on a 50/50 basis with copyright holders.
France Televisions already offered a catch-up TV service at Pluzz, offered on Internet, cable and IPTV, and currently has 40,000 video views a month.
