Video recognition specialist WebKyte has become the newest member of the British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE).

It joins the ever-growing and thriving BASE community, eighty-five-plus organisations united in supporting the Home Entertainment industry, and, through BASE’s dedicated unit, the Industry Trust for IP Awareness, a collective dedicated to tackling the issue of copyright infringement in the UK, including distributors, cinemas, and online and offline retailers.

WebKyte specialise in video recognition, identifying criminal, adult, and copyrighted content on video-sharing platforms, aiding in content moderation through its understanding of the sector’s needs through relationships with BASE members.

BASE brings together creators, distributors, retailers, technology companies, digital service providers, agencies and audiences locally and globally. It prioritises understanding audience behaviour and industry progress and shaping industry response to critical issues. BASE consistently captures analyses, and disseminates insights around piracy behaviours, informing sector strategies and highlighting the impacts of IP infringement while educating consumers about the risks associated with IP violations.

Olia Valigourskaia, CEO & Founder at WebKyte, said: “At WebKyte, we are thrilled to join BASE as their newest member. As a global provider of content protection, we believe in the power of collaboration. We look forward to learning from the fellow members and sharing our expertise with the association. We hope that together we will set new standards for media protection and enhance the home entertainment experience for everyone. Special thanks to Liz Bales and the amazing BASE team for creating a space for the home entertainment industry to exchange experiences and grow together.”

WebKyte joins other recent new members of BASE, including Amazon Prime Video, Curzon, Futuresource Consulting, MUBI, Official Charts Company, Omdia, Silk Factory, and Vobile, at an exciting time of collaboration, conversation, change, and rapid growth in the Home Entertainment industry.

Bales, Chief Executive at British Association for Screen Entertainment, said: “Combatting piracy requires a collective effort, with technology companies playing a proactive role in IP protection. WebKyte’s expertise in online content protection and their understanding of the sector’s needs through their relationships with BASE members enhances our collective strategy, empowering those who reap rewards from the UK audiovisual industry, as detailed in the ‘Piracy: A Problem Shared’ report.
